Greg Rutherford from Milton Keynes burst into prominence in 2005 when he won the senior AAA long jump title – the youngest ever winner at 18 years – and also won European Junior gold with a British Junior record of 8.14m. He was still only 19 when winning silver at the European Championships in 2006.He broke Chris Tomlinson’s British record by one centimetre with a leap of 8.30metres at the World Championships in Berlin last year, he is hoping to go even further this season.

He was a promising footballer as a youngster and he had a trial with Aston Villa.
His Great Grandfather Jock was an England international 1904-08.
